We at Veolia understand the unique requirements of mine operations and our worldwide expertise in mine water issues allows us to offer specialized water treatment solutions that treat water and efficiently remove a wide range of contaminants such as heavy metals, arsenic, suspended solids, organics, iron, manganese and specific ions.
Focusing on system performance, compliance with process and environmental requirements and long-term costeffectiveness, we are able to meet the most demanding standards of reliability, safety and quality; Tailings pond water treatment for reuse or discharge, Gold / Silver cyanide solution treatment, Merrill Crowe clarification filters, Treatment of contaminated pit and underground mine water, Reuse of mine water for irrigation, Heavy Metals removal / Metal recovery, Biological Nitrification / De-nitrification, Brackish and sea water desalination with associated pipelines, Effluent treatment, Sulfate reduction, Potable water and sanitary systems (mining camp).
Actiflo® is a compact high rate clarification system that uses microsand for enchanced flocculation and has been applied at mine sites for treatment of dilute surface water runoff. The use of the microsand results in a very small footprint, up to 20 times smaller than conventional clarification designs and it is highly efficient in the removal of finely divided particles, metal hydroxides and metal salts.
The removal of nitrogen with biological process is well-known within the mining industry with numerous installations around the world. To be able to handle the new stringent discharge requirements and increased water production, an efficient nitrogen removal process is needed. Veolia’s solution for this need has been a compact, cost-effective and very efficient AnoxKaldnesTM MBBR process.
